Wowza! Have you noticed how many celebs have changed up their hair lately? Mostly colour, but also—in the case of Anne Hathaway—cut. (But maybe that one doesn’t count as much, since it’s for her role in Les Misérables. Can’t wait!)
Olivia Wilde switched up her colour for a role too—she’s now a blonde. But the rest of these celebrity hair chamelons? Well, I think we can all conclude that Katy Perry’s ever-changing hues are most likely a quest to stay relevant. (Although she got extensions too, and I reluctantly approve.) I kinda feel a little weird about Gwyneth Paltrow’s colour as well, since she just hopped on to the Ombré train… but a few years too late. Then there is my girl Emma Stone, who recently re-blondified. She looks good no matter what, so I can’t complain.
Come take a look, and then let me know what YOU think. Keep reading »
I’ve been on deadline for a magazine story (it’s coming, K!), so I didn’t have time to catch the Grammy Awards last night. But checking out the red carpet pics this morning, my first reaction was: Wowza! They really threw beauty eds a bone here!
By that I mean there’s lots we need to talk about. Rihanna is blonde. Katy is blue. Fergie and Kate Beckinsale might have the most beautiful complexions I’ve ever seen (depressingly so). Adele does glamour hair and makeup better than anyone. And I’ve found a new way to hate on Carrie Underwood. (I know, I know, her husband is hot and he’s one of us… but STILL.)
Here’s my beauty debrief, dos and don’ts style. Shall we? Keep reading »
Is it just me or is, like, every celebrity wearing her hair in a bob, or at least a lob (long bob), lately? If I think back to my magazine beauty editor days, I know they both had their moments through the mid- to late-’00s, starting with Katie Holmes and Rihanna going for the chop, and then the whole lob thing started by Gwyneth (who then passed the torch to Olivia Palermo).
I know, it’s hard to keep up. (Although if you recall, I did alert you to this whole development last year.) So what’s changed? Well, it feels like celebs are going even shorter now—as in well above the collarbones, or even above chin-length. And there are certainly more and more of them getting in on the trend. So that makes my beauty Spidey sense start to tingle, and I can’t help but feel the need to discuss this with you guys… in case you’re kindamaybesorta thinking about a hair change. (Disclaimer: I say all of this even though personally, hell would have to freeze over before I cut my hair above shoulder-length.)
Oh! And you know what else really, REALLY convinces me that this bob thing is officially a full-fledged trend? Bachelor Ben. Keep reading »
