Yeah, I really am talking about OWS and beauty in the same sentence! But only because I interviewed an eyebrow expert the other week who told me that 99 percent of us need professional help with our eyebrows.
It’s true. The one percent, as you might imagine, are genetically blessed with brows that grow themselves perfectly and require nary a tweezer, thread or dollop of wax to maintain. But it’s a rare, rare gift from the Eyebrow Gods. Everyone else needs to consult with a pro at least once to get an idea of the right shape (to then maintain at home), or—ideally—for regularly scheduled maintenance visits.

Remember the Toronto International Film Festival? Yeah, you know, the HUGE star-studded event that everyone seems to have forgotten about since we’ve been immersed in Fashion Week. Well, the streets of Yorkville are no longer a site to spot the rich and famous (well, the rich are still lingering around), but I think we’re still due to pay reverence to the fest.
Of course the movies played are all getting rave reviews, but that’s not what I’m interested in. I don’t want to critique these female A-listers on their acting chops; no, I want to review their hair and makeup choices on the red carpet. I have a thing for glasses. (Especially, as anyone who knows me will attest, on the male population.) For women, they can be equally adorable—but as a glasses-wearer myself, I know all too well the beauty challenges of trying to “dress them up” when you want to wear something other than pajamas and lip balm. And then there is the not insignificant fact that you are unable to actually see, which further complicates the matter of makeup application.
