Meet my new TV boyfriend. Actually, he’s not really the boyfriend type, but John Krasinski and I broke up when he got together with Emily Blunt… and I know this is blasphemy, but I’ve never been able to fully get on board the Don Draper train. (I KNOW.)
Anyway, his name is Harvey Specter and I’m not altogether positive that you can’t get pregnant from watching his show (Suits). Trust me. He’s that charismatic and handsome. (Real name: Gabriel Macht. But I just call him Harvey.)
Why do I bring this up? Well, I think we’re going to be hearing a lot more about him rather soonish. And seeing as he’s the most well-groomed man on TV these days, it only makes sense to take inspiration from him when thinking about what to buy the man in YOUR life. As in: WWHD? Holiday makeup collections are awesome for many reasons. First of all, the packaging is usually WAY prettier than the regular stuff you can buy. So you can totes make everyone swoon when you pull it out of your handbag or when they come over and see it sitting pretty in your bedroom. Okay, moving right along. Another reason holiday collections rule is because they usually involve items you might not normally buy (like the body powder I’m going to tell you about in a sec), fun seasonal colours or amazingly well-priced palettes. Then there is the stuff of pure fantasy… like outrageously cool false lashes that could only ever work on New Year’s Eve. So fun, right? Here’s the stuff I suggest you seek out, stat! Keep reading »
The last half of November is fun times for a beauty ed. I used to think September was the busiest month—what with TIFF and the Fashion Weeks and all the fall launches—but this time of year is shaping up to be almost as crazy. (Maybe it’s because—oh yeah!—I DO have actual writing deadlines that I have to take care of for February and March issues… as much as it would be nice to just swan about to press previews all day long. I often say that this would be the ultimate career if you didn’t have to, you know, write anything.)
Anyway, here’s a peek into not only what I’ve been up to lately but the goings-on in the beauty world in general. And no, I really wasn’t kidding about the cat litter. Keep reading »
