Some called it boring, and maybe it is—but I still thought Jessica Biel's Oscars look was one of her best ever. She's got the side-swept waves going on, and sure, they're becoming a bit played out, but I like how hers are brushed out to the point they're almost straight, and with a sweeping side bang that has an '80s feel. Colour's looking great these days, too.
The makeup (as you'll see in a sec when we get to the close-up) is pastel perfection. As for her skin texture, those oxygen facials sure must be paying off.
Here are Jessica's big-night beauty secrets.
The hottest stylist in L.A. right now, Mara Roszak, created Jessica's waves, describing the look as "elegant, polished and a nod to old-Hollywood glam."
She first prepped Jessica's damp hair with L'Oréal Paris Oleo Therapy Perfecting Oil Essence, applying it from the middle to the ends.
Next, she sprayed the roots with L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It High Lift Creation Spray for volume.
Mara made a deep side part and blow-dried Jessica's hair smooth with a boar bristle brush. Once dry, she used an iron to just curl the ends of hair slightly, to give it a bit of bend before brushing out the waves.
After tucking the hair behind one ear and over one shoulder, she then sprayed L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Sleek It Strand-Smoother Serum Spray all over.
To weather-proof the style, the final touch was L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Lock It Weather Control Hairspray.
Here's one of the freshest close-ups we've ever seen in the history of this website:
The woman to appreciate is Kayleen McAdams, who I stalked on Instagram to find out what was behind this beautiful makeup. "I wanted to do something really fresh, light and feminine," she says. Mission accomplished times a thousand. Here we go...
She also patted Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado into the eye area.
Next came CK One Color 3-in-1 Face Makeup SPF 8 in Fair 200, which is a serum, primer and foundation all in one.
Kayleen used CK One Color 3-in-1 Concealer in Light 1 to hide any remaining imperfections.
Then, she added dimension with Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt and Highlight.
The pretty pink flush on Jessica's cheeks is courtesy of CK One Cream + Powder Blush Duo in Breath 100. Kayleen applied the cream colour to the apples of the cheeks first, and then the powder on top to help set it.
Kayleen used a bronzer instead of eyeshadow on the eyes. Using a fluffy brush, she applied CK One Color Cream + Powder Bronzer Duo in Deeply Bronzed 400 all over the lids.
For the inner corners of the eyes, she used CK One Color Powder Eyeshadow in Expose:
And then Evolved along the lash line at the outer corners:
To complete the eye look, Kayleen used two coats of CK One Color Volumizing Mascara. She brushed it through the top lashes, but used an eyelash comb to apply it to the bottom lashes—a great trick to keep them looking delicate.
While she'd been working on the eyes, Kayleen gave Jessica's lips a coat of Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Lip Balm, allowing it to soak in before the lip colour.
Next, she applied Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Lucky to cover the entire lip surface with a matte light pink.
To add a bit of dimension and moisture, she dabbed CK One Color Lip Gloss in Quirky at the centre of Jessica's lips.
Here's the final look:
Doesn't it make you want to run to a mirror and apply pink blush and lipstick immediately? I love this look so much—especially for any brunettes out there.
