You know that elusive pink colour that's suddenly become so popular? It's bright, but not too bright; pink, but not hot pink (because fuchsia kind of had its day a couple years ago). It's like a medium pink, and I've had such a hard time finding it. Most lippie colours end up being too pale, too fuchsia, too berry, too coral, too neon, etc. You know what I'm talking about, right?
Well, you can thank me later, because I've just discovered not one but two fantastic medium pinks in Aveda's spring collection, of all places. I mean, nothing against Aveda, but I never expected a natural brand would offer up colours like this. (The natural part is that they're made with plant and fruit waxes, and are very subtly scented with organic mint.)
In lipstick format, they have the Aveda Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color in Peruvian Lily:
This one is the more subdued of the two, and goes on creamy to leave a slight sheen. Here's what it looks like on my lips:
Then we have Aveda Nourish-Mint Lip Liner in Cactus Blossom:
It's a bit brighter, although the two shades are totally close enough that you can wear them together, if you're a matchy-matchy kind of girl. Otherwise, I really like the lip liner on its own, with a tiny bit of not-too-shiny lip balm, for a more matte-looking mouth. Here's what it looks like paired with my Chanel lip balm. (I know, obnoxious. But it's real good for times when you need a balm that's non-goopy.)
Are you not surprised/impressed by these colours? Highly, highly recommend checking 'em out—and I suggest you get on it fast, as these won't be around for long.
