You might've heard: fashion designer Derek Lam has teamed up with Estée Lauder on a five-piece makeup collection inspired by—and in fact used at—New York Fashion Week. At Derek Lam's S/S '14 show, of course; here's Liu Wen wearing some of the products:
It's all about sophisticated neutrals, but more on those in a sec.
First and foremost, what's great about this collab is you get a très chic evening clutch, with a hard case made of navy satin and featuring Lam's signature dumbbell clasp. And I swear, you absolutely can use it. (Not like some GWPs, where these things are so obviously NOT real handbags that there's just no way.)
Inside, there's a handy elastic on one side to hold your credit cards/cash, and then a pouch on the other to hold your makeup.
The five items include The Mascara in Black Black; The EyeShadow in Smoked Gold; The Kajal Crayon in Near Night; The Gloss in Barely Gold; and The LipColor in Smoked Blush. (Don't mind my fingerprints on these—gotta learn to wear gloves when handling this stuff. Sheesh!)
The EyeShadow is one of those with a lip gloss-style applicator, and is a beautiful gold cream:
Also of note is The LipColor, a "your lips only better" brownish pink.
The rest are great basics–everyone can use a purse-sized black mascara, a navy smudgy kohl liner, and a clear lip gloss. Plus, a designer clutch with your beauty products—when does that ever happen?
