Maybe you've noticed... there are a lot of covetable makeup palettes out there right now!
In fact, this is the best time of the year to pick one up, if you're a palette person (or if you're shopping for someone who is). Beauty companies always offer the most value—not to mention the most gorgeous packaging—for the holiday season.
Here are eight of the best ones to grab before they're gone:
Chanel Architectonic Eyeshadow Palette
My favourite! This is the Chanel Architectonic Eyeshadow Palette, a perfectly coordinated, sophisticated array of blue, grey, taupe and silver shadows in both matte and shimmery textures. I love the idea of a dramatic navy smoky eye for evening, and the other colours in here are neutral enough to work for daytime.
Yves Saint Laurent Sparkle Clash Multi-Use Palette
As usual, YSL has come out with a palette that is too beautiful to actually use/spoil. (Am I right? As Janine says, I need two of them.) The Yves Saint Laurent Sparkle Clash Multi-Use Palette features two lip colours, four eyeshadows and a highlighter, making it not just pretty but also quite practical.
Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics
For fans of neutral eyeshadow, the new Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette is your best bet. There are 12 all-new shades here, in both warm and cool tones, and ranging from nude to brown to black. They're also completely matte, with zero shimmer.
NARS Sarah Moon Give In Take Dual-Intensity Eye & Cheek Palette
If you're like me and shy away from super-pigmented shadows, then the NARS Sarah Moon Give In Take Dual-Intensity Eye & Cheek Palette is a good choice. The oversized palette contains six easy-to-use eye shades (apply them wet for a more intense effect), plus blushes and highlighter.

Lancôme Maxi Palette
The Lancôme Maxi Palette pays tribute to the whimsical style of the late Parisian fashion designer Sonia Rykiel. I swear, this is the cutest packaging Lancôme has had since the Alber Elbaz collab! There are two colour harmonies, warm purples (Parisian Spirit) and cool blues (Saint-Germain), each including an eyeshadow base, two liners and six shadows. If you're up for some colour play, these could be fun.
The Estée Edit Gritty & Glow Magnetic Eye and Face Palettes
Talk about a good deal—with The Estée Edit Gritty & Glow Magnetic Eye and Face Palettes, you get two palettes for the price of one! The eyeshadow one, called Gritty, gives you six deep, shimmering jewel tones (they totally remind me of Hailee Steinfeld's go-to shadow looks). The face palette, Glow, has six pearlized shades for nighttime highlighting.
Joe Fresh Eye Shadow Palette
One of the best palettes if you're on a budget is the Joe Fresh Eye Shadow Palette in Neutrals. If you've never tried their makeup, it's surprisingly good quality for the price. Here, you get 12 perfectly neutral eyeshadows in matte and shimmer finishes. Definitely a nice dupe for Urban Decay!
