Q: I am currently getting a full set of highlights every four weeks, and it's starting to get a little bit pricey. It seems as if my roots never completely disappear for longer than two weeks. In these pictures I had just recently had my hair highlighted.

Hope is tired of dealing with regrowth in her blonde highlights.

I really want to get the same light blonde, almost platinum hair colour at home.

I don't mind going to the salon every so often so I can get the dimensional look of highlights–I just want something to hold me over a little longer, and that looks like it matches the colour I have now.

Hope's natural hair colour is a dark, mousy blonde.

My hair is naturally a dark, mousy blonde that pulls brassy. I am happy going lighter too, if that helps. Can you help a desperate girl out? — Hope

A: Hello Hope, thank you for your question!

The blonde suits you very much.

Here is the best way to deal with the re-growth:

  • Get the shade 12-11 from the Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Royal range.
  • Mix it with 40 volume peroxide.
  • Leave it on your hair for 45 minutes.
  • Shampoo out.

Be very careful with your application. DO NOT go over the already-lightened hair—only the dark, mousy hair.

Your end result should be a very light platinum blonde and no brassiness. Enjoy!
