1. Biossance 100% Squalane Oil
Imagine my surprise when the week after I told y'all about my squalane oil obsession, a new squalane-based brand arrived at Sephora. Its name is Biossance, and the hero product is the 100% Squalane Oil, which I obviously HAD to buy. (Told you. I'm obsessed.)
Unlike the Indie Lee and Peter Thomas Roth squalanes, which are packaged in glass bottles with droppers, Biossance's is in plastic with pump. But it is pretty convenient; you get a lot more product; and per ounce, it works out to about half the price of the others! For that reason, you could use this not only as a face moisturizer but also on your hair and body. There's no discernible difference in the oil itself (like PTR's, it's derived from sugarcane) but one thing to be aware of is that the pump does dispense more product. I usually find that I only need two or three drops, so just be aware that a little goes a long way!

2. Dr Roebuck's Bespoke Serum
Dr Roebuck's—one of my favourite all-natural skincare lines—is doing a pop-up Bespoke Serum Lab in two countries this month! In Canada, it's happening at Holt Renfrew's downtown Toronto location until April 30th; if you're in the UK, it's at Selfridges Oxford St. in London until April 14th.
How does it work? First, you complete an iPad questionnaire to determine your biggest skin issues (or you can just ask them for what you want, which is what I did). Next, they whip up a customized serum JUST for you, from an array of 35 natural ingredients. If you're following my Instagram stories, you might remember seeing them mix it before my eyes! I chose the "Chamomile and Multifruit" serum to target congestion:
Ingredients (Congestion Formula): Multifruit AHA Extract (Bilberry Extract, Sugar Cane Extract, Sugar Maple Extract, Lemon Extract, Orange Extract), Chamomile Extract, Moringa Seed Extract, Arnica Extract, Witch Hazel, in a base of Carnosine, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
It feels super-fresh and light, and I love how it's full of botanicals. All the serums are meant to be used within three months for maximum potency, and there's a chance we may see the most popular formulas eventually become part of the permanent line! If you can't make it in person, you can also find their regular range at US Sephora.
3. Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair 1%
Another strange coincidence—just when I started looking for silicone-free retinols, a new one from Dermalogica shows up at Beautyeditor HQ! Overnight Retinol Repair 1%, with one percent encapsulated retinol, is a more powerful version of the original Overnight Retinol Repair with five percent retinol.
Ingredients (Overnight Retinol Repair 1%): Water/Aqua/Eau, Squalane, Glycerin, Polymethyl Methacrylate, C14-22 Alcohols, Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Xylitylglucoside, Retinol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Apricot Kernel Oil PEG-6 Esters, Anhydroxylitol, Polysorbate 20, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Xylitol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Glucose, Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Tri uoroacetate, Magnesium Chloride, Tocopherol, Sodium Hydroxide, BHT, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Aminomethyl Propanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol.
It comes with an optional buffer cream that can be mixed with the retinol to reduce dryness if you have sensitive skin or are new to retinols. Once your skin adjusts, you can just apply the retinol on its own.
Ingredients (Buffer Cream): Water/Aqua/Eau, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Cetyl Caprylate, PEG-8, Stearic Acid, Dimethicone, Cetyl Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Lactamide MEA, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Sodium PCA, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aminomethyl Propanol, Ethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol.
I still love Shani Darden's formula, but this looks like another decent, active option! Personally, I'd skip the buffer cream because I'm already used to retinol and my skin doesn't like silicones.

4. Burt's Bees Eye Makeup Remover Pads
I'm so impressed that these Burt's Bees Eye Makeup Remover Pads are 99.5 percent natural! I find them very effective at breaking down makeup—and apparently they even work on waterproof makeup, which isn't usually the case with natural formulas. The pads are soft and textured, and the remover is fragrance-free and non-oily. These are safe for contact lens wearers and don't irritate my eye area at all.
In fact, they leave my skin feeling so clean and fresh, I've actually been swiping them over my entire face! So you could definitely use them as an all-over makeup remover, or instead of micellar water for quick makeup touch-ups.
Ingredients: Water, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Water, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Sorbitan Oleate Decylglucoside Crosspolymer, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate.
5. Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner
Ole Henriksen has JUST relaunched with more modern packaging and a reorganized product lineup focusing on four key skin concerns. One of them is "Balance," which is all about refining pores and controlling oil without stripping the skin. The original formulas all remain the same, but this Balancing Force Oil Control Toner is a brand new arrival this spring. (There's also a cleanser and a mattifying moisturizer.)
This is not a toner in the traditional sense. Similar to the P50 concept, it contains acids; in fact, there's a mix of salicylic, glycolic and lactic, intended to unclog pores and minimize their appearance. Even so, it's said to be gentle enough for all skin types, and I didn't find it drying at all. If you're searching for an acid blend, this might be worth a look!
Ingredients: Water, Polysorbate 20, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Gylcerin, Gluconolactone, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Oleth-20, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate, Menthyl Lactate, Eucalpytus Globulus Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil, Linoleic Acid, Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Linolenic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Calcium Gluconate, Benzoic Acid, Tocopherol, Limonene.
6. Éminence Lotus Detoxifying Overnight Treatment
If you'd rather fight free radicals while you sleep than navigate the world of antioxidant serums, then you need to know about Éminence's Lotus Detoxifying Overnight Treatment. This is a gel-cream moisturizer that not only provides lightweight hydration, but also helps protect your skin from environmental damage, thanks to the brand's proprietary "microgreens" complex.
Oh, and see those green bits? They're jojoba beads that melt on your skin to seal in the moisture. I always love how Éminence products feel on my skin—like the equivalent of drinking a healthy smoothie, or something—and this one is no exception! Keep in mind that this only works as a night cream; when I try to apply anything on top, it starts to pill.
Ingredients: Organic Phytonutrient Blend™ [Sempervivum Tectorum (Stone Crop) Juice*, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Juice*, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Extract*, Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi (Bearberry) Extract*, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Extract*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract*, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract*, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Germ Extract*, Chlorophyll* and Vegetable Glycerin*], Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Vegetable Glycerin, Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus) Leaf Extract*, Lauryl Lactate, Pimpinella Anisum (Anise) Seed Extract*, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract*, Palmaria Palmata (Dulse) Extract*, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Tropolone, Xylitol, Cellulose, Polygonum Fagopyrum (Buckwheat) Flour, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Extract, Algin, Sorbitol, Acacia Senegal (Acacia) Gum, Xanthan Gum, Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Superoxide Dismutase, Lepidium Sativum (Swiss Cress) Sprout Extract, Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Soy Lecithin*, Sodium Hyaluronate, Pullulan, Trehalose, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Sprout Extract*, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Sprout Extract*, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Sprout Extract*, Aromatic Extract Blend, Chlorophyll, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Ester), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Biocomplex2™ [Euterpe Oleracea (Acai)*, Citrus Limon (Lemon)*, Malpighia Glabra (Barbados Cherry)*, Emblica Officinalis (Indian Gooseberry)*, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab)*, Myrciaria Dubia (Camu Camu)*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water*, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Berry*, Tapioca Starch (from Cassava Root)*, Thioctic Acid (Alpha Lipoic Acid) and Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10)], Vegetable Glycerin*

7. Rodial Dragon's Blood Lip Masks
Sheet masks have gone mainstream, and now there's one for your lips because why not? The Rodial Dragon's Blood Lip Masks are definitely an indulgence, but I can tell you that one application on my lips soothed, softened and basically banished dryness.
The brand's famous "dragon's blood" (from the red sap of the Dragon Blood tree) is in here, plus hyaluronic acid and glycerin. I didn't really notice the plumping they claim, but this does make my lips look a whole lot better. Since there's lots of mask juice left in the packet, you can keep applying it to your lips or even eye area!
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Propanediol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Croton Lechleri Resin Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Paeonia Suffruticosa (Peony) Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Olive Oil Glycereth-8 Esters, Arginine, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Allantoin, Panthenol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Phenoxyethanol, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate
8. Lancôme Visionnaire Crescendo Progressive Night Peel
Brands are really stepping up their exfoliation offerings lately, including Lancôme. The Visionnaire Crescendo Progressive Night Peel contains two different formulas of a leave-on liquid peel, suitable for all skin types except sensitive. For the first 14 nights, you start with Phase 1, which is a gentler five percent acid mix containing fruit acids and quinoa husk extract to dissolve dead skin.
Ingredients (Phase 1): Water, Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid, Alcohol Denat., Hydroxyethyl Urea, Sodium Citrate, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Saccharum Officinarum Extract / Sugar Cane Extract, Glycerin, Propanediol, Phytic Acid, Ci 14700 / Red 4, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Hydrolyzed Opuntia Ficus-Indica Flower Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Acer Saccharum Extract / Sugar Maple Extract, Adenosine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Limonene, Linalool, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Carrageenan, Disodium Edta, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Fruit Water / Orange Fruit Water, Citrus Limon Fruit Extract / Lemon Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Methyldihydrojasmonate, Citronellol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Juice / Orange Juice, Bht, Fragrance.
Then, for the next 14 nights, you flip the bottle over and use Phase 2. It has 10 percent acid (9.5 percent glycolic and 0.5 percent salicylic) and works at a deeper level on pigmentation and fine lines. When you finish the month, you can repeat the process all over again.
Ingredients (Phase 2): Alcohol Denat., Water, Methylpropanediol, Glycolic Acid, Diisopropyl Adipate, Octadecenedioic Acid, Ci 61570 / Green 5, Sodium Hydroxide, Polyquaternium-10, Salicylic Acid, Limonene, Linalool, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Methyldihydrojasmonate, Citronellol, Bht, Fragrance.
I don't get any tingling when I apply these, but they do make your skin feel a little "tight" at first, although not uncomfortably so. I do wish they hadn't included certain ingredients, including fragrance and dyes. (Phase 1 has a slight orange hue and Phase 2 is blue, although the tints don't show up on your skin in any way.) As for the alcohol, that might be a bit drying, but be aware that it is also a penetration enhancer that increases the efficacy.
Since I'm evaluating another acid right now (more on that soon), I haven't been able to give this a proper month-long test, but I do think it should work pretty well, based on the gradual build-up and the acid percentages!
9. Tenoverten The Rose Oil Cuticle Oil
Natural beauty aficionados, if you've been searching for a non-toxic nail treatment, look no further than Tenoverten's The Rose Oil. This is a 100 percent natural cuticle oil that comes in a handy tube for popping in your purse. It also dispenses through a unique tiny rollerball so you can target the oil right where you need it, instead of getting it all over your fingers!
The formula itself is a mix of non-greasy oils, vitamin E and horsetail extract; I've been told by many a manicurist that oils are the best thing for keeping your nails and cuticles healthy. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but since I started testing this, my stubby nails are getting longer!
Ingredients: simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, argania spinosa (argan) oil, punica granatum (pomegranate) seed oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, passiflora edulis (passion fruit) oil, cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, rosedamascena (rose) flower oil, equisetum hiemale (horsetail) leaf extract, tocopherol (vitamin e), eugenia caryophyllus (clove) leaf oil, ormensis multicaulis (moroccan chamomile) oil, pelargonium graveolens (geranium) flower oil, thuja occidentalis (cedarleaf) oil, carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil, cymbopogon martini (palmarosa) oil, oryza sativa (rice) bran extract, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed extract
10. Rocky Mountain Soap Company Wellness Bath Bombs
I always like to support Canadian beauty businesses, and Rocky Mountain Soap Company makes some amazing all-natural products! These limited-edition Wellness Bath Bombs are an excellent alternative to the ones from Lush. Not only are they pretty to look at, but they're also 100 percent natural and produce a fizz when you drop them into water.
There are three to choose from. Serenity (pink) soothes anxiety with bergamot and rose geranium; Vitality (yellow) stimulates and energizes with cardamom, coriander and black pepper; and Stress Away (blue) relaxes the mind with sweet orange and lavender. I've only tried Vitality so far, but they all smell wonderful!
Ingredients (Serenity): Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract* and organic alcohol*, Ultramarines, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil, Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood) Oil, Pelargonium Roseum (Rose Geranium) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flower Oil, Vetiveria Zizanioides (Vetiver) Root Oil. *Organic
