Mandy Moore before and after

Thanks to her hit show, 'This Is Us,' we've been seeing a lot of Mandy Moore lately. But what you might not know is that she's been walking the red carpet for almost 20 years!

Now 33, Mandy first rose to fame as a teen pop star with her breakout song, 'Candy.' Ah, the '90s!

She ended up releasing six albums over the years, alongside an acting career that began in 2001 and has included both TV and film roles.

If you've been following along, then you also know that Mandy is a SERIOUS beauty chameleon. Few stars have experimented with so many different makeup looks, hairstyles and colours!

But is there more to Mandy's transformation than that? Let's take a closer peek:

Mandy in 1999

First up is a 15-year-old Mandy, who was already tweezing her brows, flat-ironing her hair and bleaching it blonde (she's a natural brunette). I'm not sure I would have recognized her here, even though her smile is exactly the same!

Mandy in 2000

The following year, she went a bit more natural with her colour, at least for a few months. She looks so fresh-faced! Take note of the her nose shape, by the way—because I think it does change.

Then, Mandy hit the bleach in a big way. The flipped-out layers and lilac eyeshadow were beauty goals in 2000. Still so pretty, though!

All I can say about this one is that updos were weird in the early 2000s! Clearly, the party's in the back.

There was also this trend of seriously brassy hair colour at the time, which Mandy exemplifies in this shot. Heck, even her eyebrows are brassy! (And thin—very, very thin.) Again, I do think her nose looks wider here than it is today.

Mandy in 2002

At age 18, it was time for another radical change: a short, brunette cut and deep tan. There are those flippy bits again! I'm also wondering if Mandy might've undergone her first nose job by this point.

The short cut then grew out into a bob, which Mandy styled in piecey curls for this event. Note the mint green eyeshadow, inexplicably applied at the inner corners of her eyes.

And then there was this hairstyle (and darker colour), no doubt achieved with the help of extensions. Funny how dated those choppy bangs look now!

At age 20, Mandy gave short hair one more go. This is almost the same cut as she had in 2002, just without those sticky-outie bits behind the ears. The makeup is surprisingly timeless—she is really glowing!

In 2005, it was back to brassy blonde. I actually love this super-tousled, chin-length 'do! Makeup is very on point as well.

Oh man, remember this hairstyle? It was so popular in the mid-2000s; I recall Sienna Miller having it as well (along with the brassy light blonde hue). Mandy's wearing extensions, of course, hence the different lengths.

Next, at age 22, Mandy went auburn. I love the reddish hues with her skin colour! Her brows look two-toned, however.

This is probably my all-time favourite Mandy look, a Bardot-esque half-up style with oversized hoop earrings. Her makeup is so perfect as well.

The red continued through 2008, which must be the longest she has stuck to a hair colour so far! Here, she did smoky eyes to match.

In 2009, Mandy gave brassy blonde one last go, at a shorter lob length. By this time, you can see that she is starting to lose some of her baby fat (she was 24 here).

A year later, and Mandy not only had long hair again, but she also became a deep brunette! It's interesting how it makes her skin look so much creamier. But whoa, the eyeshadow is so heavy-handed.

Mandy kept the dark hair through 2011, also rocking a lovely bright lip. Her face seems to have lost some volume here.

Now we're back to red... and it's no wonder her texture looks a bit fried! I thought this pic was also notable because of Mandy's nose—I'm suspecting it's been whittled down since.

Finally, in 2013, Mandy settled on a brunette tone that's probably close to her natural colour, and that she's stuck with to this day. This look is much edgier than usual, thanks to the graphic liner and messy curls.

Mandy in 2014

Now we're in 2014, and Mandy is 29. Her face has definitely matured in the last couple of years—or maybe it's her styling! The mid-length waves and sophisticated makeup are a far cry from her early 2000s get-ups.

Mandy in 2015

Mandy Moore, The A List Anniversary Party, 2015

Mandy didn't step out much at all in 2015, except for this event—where she debuted some Ombré ends and a shorter (and frizzier!) lob. This was a few months before her 'This Is Us' comeback, and I've gotta say... her nose seems different now. I think you might agree when you see the next pic.

Mandy in 2016

Mandy, is that you? It's hard to believe this is the same person, because of the '80s-style curls, which she's never worn before. But something also seems different about her features. I think it's the tip of her nose—it suddenly looks a lot more sculpted!

Mandy in 2017

Mandy Moore, Tangled Before Ever After premiere, 2017

That brings us to 2017, and one of Mandy's best looks of the year so far. I love this hot pink lipstick and the loose updo (once again, with subtle Ombré tips). And her brows are looking better and fuller than ever. If you go back to 2015, the expression matches, but her nose isn't quite the same!

Conclusion

Mandy Moore before and after

You've really got to respect Mandy Moore for her dedication to beauty experimentation. I can't think of any other star who has ticked off so many trends!

That alone would account for her dramatic transformations, since hair colours, cuts, makeup and brow shapes can change a look so much.

Examining the photo evidence, I do think her features generally look the same, except for that one procedure that every celeb seems to get: a nose job. Maybe two of them—one recently and one early on in her career. It just seems like she has a straighter, narrower bridge and less bulbous tip, especially if you compare here:

But there might be even more. "It is very possible that she's had some work done," Dr. Anthony Youn told Radar Online. "I suspect she may have undergone Botox injections to her forehead, causing her eyebrows to change shape and flatten. It also appears she may have undergone a chin implant, making her jaw look more square. Overall, these changes make Mandy look a lot more masculine."

A chin implant? Flat eyebrows? Masculine?! I don't agree! I think if Mandy has had anything else done, it's very tasteful and conservative. Let me know what you see!
