Emily Ratajkowski skincare routine

Some models, like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, execute their complicated skincare routines with military precision.

Then there's Emily Ratajkowski, who takes an extremely laid-back approach.

"As I got older I realized that you can just have five things that you love and a simple routine that you stand by," she told Into the Gloss in 2013. "Then, you don't ever have to think about it. Everything that I have, I use on a daily basis."

Here's what's involved in her surprisingly basic routine:

Korean Spa Treatments:

Natura Spa: "I'm pretty terrified of facials. My big treat is that once a month I go to a Korean spa. I usually go about 40 minutes before my appointment, and you can get into all these different pools. Then you get a body scrub, and you're lying there naked with 20 other women. They just treat you like a piece of meat, but it's worth it. Then you shower, and I like the acupressure massage. Those ladies are strong! They even put grated cucumber on your face. Afterward, my skin is so soft, and I always sleep so well that night."

Emily's Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle

Diet:

"You know, I'm a carnivore. I really like to eat meat. I crave iron so I am definitely not the kind of person who you will find eating a salad. I like to keep it really balanced to give my body energy and also be healthy. I cook a lot, so that really helps: You know how much salt and sugar and all of that kind of stuff you are putting in your body. I think it is really important to give yourself a break. And also just really think about where things are coming from and what kind of ingredients are going into your body."

Exercise:

"I don't have a trainer, and I don't really go to the gym. I go on long walks and hikes with my girlfriends. That's about it."

Conclusion

Emily Ratajkowski skincare routine

Close-up of Emily Ratajkowski's skin.

Could Emily's skin be any more flawless?!

And yet—compared to most of the celebrity skincare routines we've looked at so far—her routine is so no-frills.

(She doesn't even work out. Some people have all the luck!)

Since she's still young (26) and doesn't have any skin issues like acne or dryness to worry about, there's no real reason to incorporate advanced products such as serums and acids. Instead, the focus is on moisture, and the retinol (which I'm a fan of, too!) is the only active treatment she needs.

If I were to make any changes to this routine, I'd add a sunscreen—that's the one glaring thing that is missing!

To get the most out of the retinol, I would also make sure that all traces of the cleansing milk are removed from the skin. (Milky cleansers rarely rinse clean.)

The best hydrator in her repertoire is the By Terry, but she could easily swap that out for a more natural product such as Odacité Beautiful Day Moisturizer (reviewed here) or LXMI Crème du Nil Pore-Refining Moisture Veil (reviewed here). The Magic Cream I'd definitely avoid due to the homosalate, which is a hormone disruptor!

But even if she could make a few better product choices, there's no question that Emily's current lineup is producing beautiful results, and that she's got a healthy attitude to skincare (not to mention diet and exercise). Good skin doesn't always require tons of products, active ingredients and professional skin treatments. Less is often more!
